If you had told me a few years ago that I would be learning SEO at 52, building a website from scratch, and planning a remote life for 2029, I probably would have laughed. But here I am, starting something completely new, unfamiliar, and honestly a little intimidating.
This first week has been about getting the foundations in place. Nothing fancy. Nothing polished. Just the basics. I installed WordPress, chose a theme, set up a simple homepage, and created this blog so I have somewhere to document the journey.
I am not trying to be an expert. I am not pretending to know what I am doing. I am simply showing up, learning as I go, and sharing the process in a way that feels real, honest, and imperfect.
Here is what I managed to get done this week:
It has been a mix of excitement and “what am I doing,” but that is the point. I am not trying to build the perfect website. I am trying to build momentum.
• Installed WordPress through Hostinger
• Set up Astra as my theme
• Created my core pages: Home, Blog, About, Contact
• Connected Google Search Console and Analytics
• Watched a few beginner tutorials to understand how SEO actually works
• Started wrapping my head around keywords, search intent, and how Google finds content
This blog is going to be my learning lab. A place to track what I am doing, what I am learning, and how it all fits into the bigger goal of building a remote income stream so my wife and I can travel Europe in 2029.
If you are reading this, you are catching me right at the beginning. No polish. No expertise. Just a guy trying to reinvent himself one small step at a time.
Week one is done. The site is live. And that is enough for now.
